Unveiling the Ultimate Trailer: A Texas Pride and Big Truck Big RV Collaboration

Texas Pride teamed up with JD from Big Truck Big RV to design a custom dump trailer built for half-ton trucks. We reveal the finished build and breaks down the standout features that make this compact hauler a serious workhorse.

Innovation and customer input lead to a new kind of dump trailer.

Texas Pride Trailers recently partnered with JD Kahanamoku from Big Truck Big RV to turn a unique trailer concept into reality. The collaboration highlights Texas Pride’s ongoing focus on quality, customization, and listening to customer needs.

The Genesis of a Unique Idea

JD, well known for his detailed truck and trailer reviews on YouTube, has been a long-time customer and collaborator with Texas Pride. Over the years, he’s owned multiple Texas Pride trailers — including a dump trailer, gooseneck, and utility trailer. About a year ago, a conversation with the Texas Pride team sparked an idea: build a one-of-a-kind dump trailer designed specifically for half-ton trucks and more flexible towing scenarios.

Challenge Accepted

During early discussions, JD and the Texas Pride team explored the possibility of a compact but highly capable dump trailer that could balance towability, weight, and utility. The team took on the challenge and got to work designing a trailer that could do exactly that — and more.

The Big Reveal

JD visited Texas Pride headquarters in Madisonville, Texas, to see the final build. The result was a 6×10 dump trailer with 16-inch sidewalls and a 10,000 lb gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), offering a unique combination of maneuverability, payload capacity, and everyday utility. The trailer was designed to handle substantial loads while remaining accessible and easy to tow.

Custom Features for Everyday Versatility

Built around JD’s specific needs, this trailer includes:

  • Low Sidewalls (16”) – Easier to load and unload without needing to climb or lift over tall sides.
  • High Payload Capacity – With a 3,000 lb trailer weight and a 7,000 lb payload, it can handle equipment like JD’s tractor.
  • Adjustable, Removable Jack – Includes an adjustable front coupler and round tube jack that can be removed or swapped out.
  • Solar Panel on Toolbox – Keeps the battery charged, especially during downtime.
  • Hydraulic Dump with Wireless Remote – Makes dumping easier and more efficient, especially when working solo.

A Collaboration Built on Feedback and Craftsmanship

The final product reflects the value of close collaboration between experienced users and trailer builders. By incorporating direct feedback from JD, the Texas Pride team delivered a tailored trailer solution that meets real-world demands.

Since 1998, Texas Pride Trailers has remained committed to building reliable, heavy-duty trailers in Madisonville, Texas. This project reinforces that mission: listening to customers, innovating when needed, and continuing to build trailers that work as hard as the people who use them.
