A Surprise Worth 30,000 Pounds

Matthew Sanders entered our dump trailer giveaway with one goal: surprise his dad. The result? The ultimate Father’s Day gift—and one unforgettable reaction.

How One Son Pulled Off the Ultimate Father’s Day Gift

Back in early 2020, we put our 20,000 LB GVWR Dump Trailers through hell in a full-blown torture test with Big Truck Big RV—piling up to 50,000 pounds of material in each trailer to prove just how much they could handle. After the test, Texas Pride founder Jim Bray said what we were all thinking: “We don’t sell used trailers, and these are now used—let’s fix them up and give them away.”

That decision kicked off a nationwide giveaway—and hundreds of submissions poured in. But one story stood out above the rest: Matthew Sanders, from Georgia.

Matthew wasn’t just trying to win a trailer. He was on a mission to honor his father, Denny, the man who founded their small family-run business after being wronged by a former employer. And the way Matthew told that story—quietly, secretly, from the next room over—made it clear: this wasn’t about him. It was about giving something back.

So we cleaned up one of the torture-tested trailers, freshened the paint, and delivered it just after Father’s Day. The reaction? Unforgettable.

“I don’t know what to say,” Denny said, visibly emotional. “This is hands-down the best Father’s Day present ever. Sorry, grandbaby—this one wins.”

This scissor-lift dump trailer stood up to 30,000 pounds of rock and rubble during testing. Now it’s headed into everyday use with a small Georgia business that puts in real work every single day.

From all of us at Texas Pride—thank you, Matthew. And thank you, Denny. This is why we do what we do.
